PM me if you have any issues.Last edited on April 14th 2020The scope of the guide is to give you an idea on how to install any type of mod for all of the 3 games. My recommended mods don't change the vanilla feel too much but in the end you choose what mods you want. Feel free to read their descriptions, but keep in mind that many of the instructions on individual mod pages may be outdated. This guide doesn't cover aspects of modding such as injecting shaders - since better guides for this already exist and they apply universally to all games. I recommend using something like ReShade/ENB/Nvidia Inspector/ to inject SMAA and some form of AO into the games. FPS Counter is also the only known way to fix the on AMD CPUs, but it will break your game if used alongside ReShade/ENB.If you have the Origin version of the game please go to SettingApplicationClient Updates and disable automatic game updates, otherwise Origin will break the game.
It's also important that you run the game at least once before you start modding. Getting to the main menu and exiting is enough. Many mod descriptions will tell you that you need programs such as ' Texmod' or ' MassEffect3Explorer' to install textures. For the end user, both of these programs are obsolete, since we're using the texture installer that comes with ALOT now. Some may also say to change lines in the.ini files of the game. While there are still interesting things to be done in the ini files, editing them is no longer needed, Installer can optimize them for you with the click of a button, so you're getting the best shadow, textures resolution and effects possible.
It also applies LAA automatically. The only third-party software that you will need to download for modding any of the Mass Effect games is by Mgamerz. This comes packed with ALOTInstaller, MEModder, ME3Explorer etc.
And it's currently the easiest way to install your mods. Special thanks goes to aquadran and all the people before him that have put so much work into creating the Modding Tools we have to day.Modding ME is different than modding other games. Textures must always be installed last, after all other mods. If you start installing textures, you won't be able to install further non-texture mods. Doing so will most likely break the game or leave it in a compromised state. If this happens, uninstall and manually delete all your game files. I advice you follow the install order here.Applies to all 3 games:.
Install the latest build of. Mod Manager is required to install certain mods. Others don't require it, but can still be installed through it. If that's the case, always opt to install using Mod Manager. Simply drag and drop archives of Nexus mods and see if they are recognized by it. Under 'Mod Manager' you have ASI Mods, take a look and see if you fancy anything in there. Go to Tools and Install Bink32 DLC Bypass for all your games.

Also under 'Tools' you have ALOT Installer. If you go to 'Settings' you'll notice that Installer also has 'Backup' feature for all 3 games. In order to use this, you must have a completely vanilla version of the game installed. I highly recommend using this tool to backup your game before you start moddingHow to use Installer to install any kind of textures:. Download all the mods mentioned BUT DON'T EXTRACT THEM. Drag them into the program window or use the 'Download Assistant' to import them automatically from the directory you saved them in.
DO NOT RENAME ANYTHING. The file should be used as you downloaded it.
If you want to use mem/tpf/mod files (textures essentially) that are not included in Addon, drop them one by one in the Installer window and specify for each what game you're installing them for. BEWARE OF INSTALL ORDER. Mods higher-up in the list will install first and mods lower in the list will overwrite them. All mods under 'User Supplied Mods' will overwrite ALOT. Said textures can also be added as archives for ease of use. For ME1 you can also customize the MEUITM installation.
I recommend you toggle 'Soft Shadows' in here. Make sure you've already installed all your non-texture mods. Go to 'INSTALL ALOT FOR MEx' and let it install the textures.FOR MASS EFFECT 1:.- Mod Manager compatible, but the 'Higher Res Citadel Arrival Cinematic for ALOV users' movie file must be added manually.- Mod Manager compatible.- Mod Manager compatible.- Comes with ALOT Installer packed, but you only need the.mem file inside if you already have Mod Manager (go to 'Tools - ALOT Installer')(From down here it's a matter of personal taste. These further mods might significantly deviate from the vanilla look or be lower quality than textures in ALOT.- Not all of them are included in ALOT. If you'll install the textures for Anderson, you must first install or otherwise you'll get skin tone differences between the face and the rest of his head.- Overlaps with Ellise's mods for Liara and with some textures in ALOT.
Are some extra comparison shots. Pay attention to the install order and install the texture you want to use last or make sure further textures won't overwrite them.and by Khali1985Here's a visual guide of the process:FOR MASS EFFECT 2:. Mod Manager compatible.

It comes as an executable but it's nothing more than a DLC file. Is included in this but it's optional in the installation.- read the carefully! (see mod description for more info). Also no point in using it in combination with other texture mods for Ashley.which I heard works great withLastly, if you're having issues with Origins not opening the game after installing mods, follow this nice by Mgamerz's on how to fix it.

Please if you have any questions or concerns. Two quick things about installing mods for ME. I followed your instructions.
It took a while to figure out that 'Now apply them both (this can take a few hours if your HDD is slow).' Involved right clicking on the individual mods to find the 'Apply'.After applying both the MEUITM and A LOT mods, you say to 'Go to Mass Effect 1 and click on 'Update LOD settings' and 'Optimize Game's INI files'. I can see these options before I load any mods, but once I have, the Mass Effect (and Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3) button in MEM gets greyed out, and its menus can no longer be accessed.
Is this normal? Am I missing something?.
I appreciate the work you put into this guide. I may just be having on my particular system. I can apply the mods and 'Update LOD settings' and 'Optimize Game's INI files'. No change is readily apparent when I run the game. If I overwrite the directory with the one from 'Soft Shadows stand alone', the game crashes on startup. I don't see any file or setting saying 'No Brows fix for female NPC's', so I don't know what to remove.Again, thank you for putting all this together.

I'm sorry I'm so new to modding, and just bumbling around.
Not long after the initial launch I started envisionning a 2.0 version that would work for all games and would cater to this community I had accidently tapped into. About a year and a half later I started work on Faces of Gaming. Fast foward to about 6 months ago, after I quit my job so I could finish this and make it worthy of a large scale website that utilizes all the skills I learned working for a larger company. I don't see how it could have happened otherwise to be honest, the free time needed would have taken me years more.
